9TH ANNUAL MEETING UCCOSSN

April 12-14, 1996

National Offices of the United Church of Christ, Cleveland,Ohio

The first meeting of the United Church of Christ Office Support Staff Network held outside of Florida was hosted by the national office of the United Church of Christ in Cleveland in April, 1996. A highlight of the weekend was a tour of 700 Prospect Avenue.

The theme was "Living Simply and Simply Living". The presenter was Ms. Peggy Dunn. As a member of the Society of Friends (Quakers) and the wife of a UCC minister, Peggy had an ecumenical approach toward religious practice. She was keenly interested in the expression of spirituality in daily life. The theme presentation was divided into three phases:

Looking into our Activities

Looking into our Environments

Looking into our Souls

Some other persons who made presentations during the weekend were:

Paul Sherry - President of the UCC
Edith Guffey - Secretary of the UCC
Doris Powel - Treasurer of the UCC
Robert D. Witham, Executive Coordinator for Structural Transition, on the national restructure voted at General Synod to be implemented in 2000
Bernice Powell, Executive Director of the Commission for Racial Justice, on the Multi-cultural, Multi-racial Pronouncement

Support staff also had a chance for a Pre-Meeting Seminar which highlighted Lotus Notes and the Profile Distribution System administered by the Office for Church Life and Leadership. Charlotte Still was the coordinator and host for this event.
